A Mother’s Tears

The tears that a mother sheds cannot be measured

You are a part of us from the very day we know you exist in our soul

We cry when you are born

We cry from the pain and from the joy

We cry the first time you fall

because we feel we are to blame

We cry when you go to school that first day

We cry if someone hurts you

We cry when we feel we are failing

and we feel that we fail often

We cry when you cry

We cry every time you graduate to the next level

We cry when you win medals

and when you don’t

We cry when you find a place to live that’s no longer under the same roof with us

We cry when you find a partner

and start your own life

We cry when you have babies

We cry if you can’t

We cry when life hits you too hard for us to intervene

We cry for your injustices

because we can’t help you

We cry when you no longer want us to

A mother’s tears are immeasurable because they never ever stop
