Becoming Mommy
Motherhood is a gift that has no comparison. We as women are often mothers without having given birth.
This is a shout out to all of us. All the mothers, aunties and stepmoms that are nurturing tiny beings that look to us for strength and praise. We are the backbone of our next chapter. We should never forget what we do on the daily. Here is a poem that I wrote about my daughter. Dr. Amber. She is my greatest accomplishment.
My Babygirl

Babygirl
The first time that I held you after your first breath of life, I knew
Actually I knew from the first flutter I felt in my belly. It felt like tiny butterfly wings. And I knew you
I had dreamed of you before you were born. A golden child with golden hair and golden eyes
Surrounded by the brightest of lights.
I knew you
I knew your name and refused all others because I knew you
I watched you dance and sing and play and grow
Holding you in this photo under the evergreen trees, my arms wrapped around you, your hands making certain that they don’t move from this comfort
Anchoring me to you
Secure
This is everything that we are to each other.

Vacations and road-trips
Movings, San Francisco, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Monroeville. Then to university and on to medical school, Philadelphia, Baltimore, residency, fellowship, the first house that you bought. Mattress tied to the roof of your yellow car. Torrential rains, took a week to get dry but you were back home
Now, here you are, doctor, mother, scientist, writer, researcher, artist and motivational speaker
Dynamic
Golden
Phenomenal
It amazes me still that I got to be the one to bring you to us earthlings. Me Lucky me
