Apéro Time

When I arrived to live in Paris nearly 10years ago I didn’t know what Apéro was. Since I learned not only what it is but just how fantastic it is, have embraced Apéro. It’s akin to Tea Time in England except, you know, French. By that I mean it’s a bit more hearty and a lot more relaxed. We often do apéro at home. Several restaurants offer apéro as well. I recently found a restaurant in our neighborhood that is named Apero Time. I’m really excited to try it.
When we do apero at home we like to do a platter of Pierre’s favorite cheeses, crudités, nuts, marinated olives , sometimes we add meats sometimes not. I like to see what’s fresh at the markets. Fresh cherry tomatoes that I marinate myself are a favorite addition as well. Sometimes I will make mini cheese soufflés or find something unique to try. We usually have champagne from Pierre’s family’S vineyard, but i sometimes make cocktails or we will have a beer or a mock tail. Apéro is a special treat for us. We don’t do it everyday. We used to invite friends but since Covid we really haven’t done that. We still enjoy if from time to time, just us two.
Whenever you are in France make sure to have apéro. It’s definitely a wonderful treat.
